The Adobe CreativeSuite CS2 Tutorials

In 2003 Adobe contacted the leading Photoshop Experts to contribute a tutorial for the release of Photoshop CS2. These tutorials were part of the software package and accessible for the users through the Welcome Screen in Photoshop. Michael Baumgardt was the only international expert to be included.

Photoshop World Conference

The Photoshop World Conference is the largest and most important Photoshop Conference in the World. Organized by internationally renowned Photoshop Expert Scott Kelby, Michael Baumgardt was invited there three times as a speaker (2002 - 2004 in San Diego, Tampa and Miami)

Michael Baumgardt is an internationally acclaimed book author on Desktop Publishing and Web Design. His books have been translated into over 10 languages and sold in over 20 countries. He speaks regularly at conferences like the Photoshop World Conference or the Photoshop Convention that he initiated and started in Germany.

Graphic Design

Michael Baumgardt had his first Desktop Publishing experience with Calamus on Atari; later on Macintosh with QuarkXPress, Illustrator and Photoshop. Since 1987, he created everything from logos, ads, and magazines to books. Among his clients were Springer, Addison Wesley, Pearson, International Thompson Publishing, Adobe Press etc.  His  book designs transcend the boundaries between computer books and magazines and are considered to be some of the most beautifully designed computer books.

Web Design

Michael Baumgardt was one of the first designers to embrace the Web in 1997 where he started his own Design Studio in Manhattan, New York. He developed web sites for companies, ranging from SAP- and IT Consulting to Non-profits, from manufacturing to celebrity photographers, Pop-Musicians to Real Estate sites.

These projects included the Information Architecture, the Design, the HTML/CSS/Flash Coding/Authoring and the implementation. As an expert in his field, he wrote several books on these subjects including the book "Web Design with Photoshop", which became an international bestseller. Since 2004, he has immersed himself into the field of OpenSource Web Applications, ranging from Customer Relationship Management to Survey Tools, Content Management and eCommerce to Blogging, for which he has developed and programmed several solutions in PHP/MySQL.

eCommerce, Online Marketing & Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

The way Online Marketing and eCommerce is done, has changed drastically in the past few years. The reason for this is the development of OpenSource Solutions.  These provide a business with a range of tools and information that are crucial to its business intelligence. Very few people today understand how to integrate eCommerce, Search Engine Optimization and Visitor Analytics with their overall Marketing strategy and goals. Michael Baumgardt has worked with various openSource eCommerce Solutions and Online Marketing tools since 2001. Today he specializes in Joomla VirtueMart for which he has developed several Modules and Components. When Discovery Channel Germany wanted to developed a new eCommerce Online Platform for their documentaries called DiscoveryClub, they turned to Michael Baumgardt to be the Consultant for the project.

Search Engine Optimization is essential to the success of every web site. Unfortunately, there are many companies out there that try to sell clients their services with promises that they can´t keep and without proof that they can deliver. Michael Baumgardt has done Search Engine Optimization for more than ten years and is familiar with some of the best available SEO tools and software.

Video & Multimedia

CD-ROM Design: Michael Baumgardt developed several CD-ROMs (Concept, Interface and Realization) for an interactive Training CD (published by Infotrain/PAGE). Other projects include a CD-ROM for Macrotron, which was developed on Macromedia Director requiring extensive programming in Lingo.

Videos:  Shooting and editing of Event Videos (e.g. Artrageous) and Music Videos (e.g. Ce Si, Embracing Humanity).

Technical Writer & Journalist

As Editor for SoundCheck and Editor-in-chief of KEYS, Michael Baumgardt was responsible for the content and conceptual work as well as overseeing all aspects of production and representing the magazines at trade shows. After leaving SoundCheck and Keys, he continued to work as a journalist, writing for PAGE magazine, Internet World Magazine and PrintProcess, published by Heidelberger Druckmaschinen.  PrintProcess was translated and published in five different languages for a world-wide audience. Among the most interesting stories, was an interview with David Carson, who next to Neville Brody is considered one of the innovators of Desktop Publishing.

Speaker & Trainer

As an expert in his field, Michael Baumgardt has been invited as speaker to many conferences, most notable the "Photoshop World Conference", which is the largest Photoshop Convention of its kind. He also started in Germany his own Photoshop Convention, which he was organizing and leading for two years.
